Probationary Period Extension.
NZ Employers with more than 20 employees may include a Probationary Period in their employment agreements.
A formal clause must be added to the employee’s Employment Agreement and agreed to.
Employers should be in continual communication with employees during Probation periods. Where performance standards are below the expectation, employers must discuss with the employee how this could be rectified.
In the situation where the performance was not at the required level for specific aspects of performance, the Employer may extend the Probation Period.
This letter is a template for employers to use to advise specifics of an extension to the Probation Period.
