This is a template of the first letter you should send to an employee if you feel they may have abandoned their employment.

You will need to check the timeframe outlined in their individual employment agreement before sending the letter – and send it to their last known address.

Employers are expected to have an up to date address, email & contact phone number for all employees at all times, and this is one of the reasons why.

You must make every effort to contact the employee before assuming they have abandoned their employment with you – and follow the correct full process for compliance.

You may not recruit or even advertise for a replacement until you have completed the ‘abandoned employment’ process.
