Rehabilitation Agreement
Where there is an employee with drug or alcohol related problems, employers may enter into an agreement for the employee to undergo treatment.
An agreement must be put in place outlining the expectation and the management procedures from the employer’s side and any parameters, expectations, and timeline requirements.
This agreement must be retained on the employee’s file and followed up to ensure that the plan rolls out as is required.
This document is a template for employers to follow. The documentation must be in line with the business’s Drug & Alcohol Policy – the overriding policy of the business on drug and alcohol management issues to ensure that all employees are treated in the same way in principle.
As addiction-related behaviour is very personal, the employer is able to personalise programmes for employees who require assistance and who are able to be rehabilitated and retained by the business.
