A Contractor’s Agreement is a legal requirement for all contractors whatever the type of business contracted by your business.

The Contractor’s Agreement includes all of the legal minimum employer provisions under New Zealand employment legislation.


Contractors are not the same as employees, but they require formal contracts to be in place to protect both parties and to avoid potential conflicts or misunderstandings in the future.

Your Contractor agreement is a legal agreement - in the same way as an Individual Employment Contract is. It should cover the eventuality of termination, future restraints, confirming who will be responsible for tax payments and how invoices should be sent, plus and all the things required by NZ Law to be in any employment agreement.
