Managing Termination of Employment
Termination of Employment.
There is a correct process for considering and implementing termination of an employment contract.
Employment contract termination can be a very stressful aspect for both employer and employee. The way you approach termination can reduce this stress for both parties. NZ employment law requires that all interfaces between employer and employee are open and honest, transparent and in good faith.
If you are unsure of the process that employers are required to follow, you would be very wise to speak first to someone who does, or to engage the services of an HR professional - or consider one of our annual membership plans - one of which includes along with all of the DR Documents and other benefits, a monthly HR consultation.
Termination of employment follows the same path regardless of whether there is a 90 day trial in place for the employee or not. Importantly, all stages of the employment termination process must be clearly documented - including the termination itself.
